My old pal Phil Grable showed up on Saturday. Phil designed and co manufactured the Golden Eagle bow with Ernie Root in the early 1960's. The Golden Eagle bow like the one he is holding shot the first two perfect 300 scores at the International Indoor Open at Cobo Hall in Detroit Michigan.

I met Phil in 1960 when he and I belonged to the same Archery Club. Over the years we shot tournaments together and went on some hunts together. Phil is a year or two older than me and it was great to see him in good health.

We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn eternal truths from the past
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.
Life is like a wet sponge, you gotta squeeze it until you get every drop it has to offer

That is cool. To me that is what traditional archery is all about.
Pick a spot and concentrate!

One of those events that you never forget attending.
Take note of the history on review. It is there from the self bow through the present bowyer, and should be absorbed and renewed.

This event is pure inspiration.

Thank you all, particicipants and reminiscers.
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

This is my Golden Eagle that Phil gave me in 1966. A 70" target bow, Gold anodized riser. It has a 3 position knuckle to change the angle of the limbs.

It's a one of a kind prototype and the only one that was ever made like that. Phil told me it was a very rare bow.    :dunno:
