Been thinking of getting back to traditional archery..... mostly selfbows... All season, in the treestand, my compound seemed heavy and the breakover is painful now.... So, I got out one of the selfbows I made a few years back, and killed a small buck with.... Snakeskin backed, osage 54# static recurve.... Took 10 shots at my deer target... killed 6 deer... lol... quit on this shot..... I hope this pic works(praying)...   web page

Thanks, but far from ready...  ;) .... Can't wait to make some more selfbows, and get back in the swing of things... Had more fun shooting those 10 shots tonight than I had shooting my compound this year... lol

Good question.... Life happens, I guess... divorce, custody of my kids, working a lot of overtime to provide.... met my current GF, she is a gun hunter, so I got into that.... .44 mag, handgun loads.. But, in my home state of Indiana, they are allowing high powered rifles for deer now.... And, I don't think that is fun... Our numbers seem down, and I have always liked to get close to deer.... THAT is half the fun,(at least  :) )... AND, I like simple things...

Thanks..Admittedly, they were not long shots, but..... DANG, it felt good to shoot traditional again !!! My self-imposed effective range was always within 15-18 yds before... I have too much respect to shoot at an animal that is too far for me... I let a "Booner" walk at 23 yds.... back in the day.... lol

Welcome home YD. Mebbe we can meet up at Cloverdale this summer.

Welcome back Michael !

I got my first traditional longbow deer at Kingsberry, wildlife refuge in Indiana. They open it up for hunting in (1973) to thin the heard out.
