I have for the last couple of years been shooting 5 1/2" Shield Cut Feathers?

Am going to be ordering a new bow, and need to lighten up the shafts.. Was wondering if anyone had any feed back as far as going back to the 5"
Feathers???

Pros Cons..

Thank you

bjk

It's difficult to not sound condescending here (For a change, I'm not trying to), but you want to lighten the arrow and you are starting with 1 1/2" of feather???

More info regarding the new bow, draw length, type of arrows, etc...should produce several formulas for light and heavy arrows.

I doubt that you can acurately weigh the diference between  5 and  5 1/2" feathers. There will be more variation between individual feathers of the same length than the diference in the 2 sizes.
There are far better ways to change weight on the front of the shaft.

mITCH i SHOOTBOTH 5" AND 51/2 " FEATHERS THEY SHOOT EXACTLY THE SAME AS FAR AS i'M CONCERNED.hOWEVER SUPPOSIDLY THE 51/2 " FEATHER SHOULD BE A LITTLE SLOWER bIGGER FEATHER MORE drag?? bUT TO HECK IF i SEE A DIFFERENCE. wHAT # BOW ARE YOU GOING TO ORDER IF YOU ORDER a50# you could shoot 1916's 2016's or a 35/55 carbon YOU'll just have to play around with them to see what flies best. Feather size Shouldn't matter. My bows are 52#s and 50#s the 50# bow likes 1916 with a 145 gn head my 52# bow likes a 2016 with a 175 185 or a 220 gn head
