When I built a wood boat, I used some fiberglass tape epoxied over wood.  Ends up being clear. CAn I use this to back a kids bow?  Will it add a lot of draw weight?

Saw asite recently that was selling fiberglass like cloth to back bows with.  Was wondering how well it worked myself.  Hope you don't mind, going to piggy back along and see what answers you get.

in the Bowyers' books, Tim Baker mentions using fibreglass-reinforced  shipping tape for backing

I have used it on my kid's bows, doesn't add too much in draw weight and works well.  I glue it on with tite bond 3.

I'd be interested.  Commonly used on Lowe's red oak board bows is 1-2 or 3 layers of the fiberglass mesh drywall tape glued down.  Doesn't look great, but keeps splinter from lifting for us novice bowyers that can't pick out a good board or chase a ring.
