I want to say THANK YOU to Trad Gangers for getting me (and my son) into traditional archery!  I have meet many great people over the past year who have generously donated materials, time, experience, and patients in helping me get started making my own traditional equipment (including my first attempt at making a Selfbow)!

Below are a few photos I wanted to share with you...

My best friend Eric Schultz and bowyer Dave Reed at the 2007 Traditional Expo in Wheeling, WV.  Eric and I both headed home from the event with selfbows...Thanks Bowyer's Journal for holding the event!

Master Bowyer Gary Davis helping me re-form my selfbow.

Me tillering away!

Almost-finished product....thanks Glenn Mucha for helping me with the leather-work!

My 3yr old son Colton at HBST shooting his selfbow from Eagles Wings Archery...with my new leather-working skills, I added a leather handle grip and tip protector "just like Dad's"

Dino,

The first selfbow conquest is great (congratulations!) but the pictures of you and Colton made my eyes well up.

You are putting "chips" in the bank of your relationship with him that will pay great dividends in many ways as the years go by.

My little boy was 4 when I stepped into the world of traditional archery and made him his first little selfbow.  He is 18 and a freshman in college today, and we've shared some wonderful times.

I was warned through the years that even though we had a great relationship, I should expect that someday he'd go through a "bad" streak and it wouldn't be so good.

Well, I refused to expect it, and it never happened.  I realize things CAN happen, but they don't HAVE to.  At age 18, Ben still thinks I'm smart, and he still thinks I'm funny.  Maybe he's just not a good judge of character(?!?), but I am so greatful for the relationship we have.  It was built one minute, one memory, one lesson at a time.

The time you are spending and rememories you you are building today with Colton are the gift of a lifetime.  I know he will be the better for it, and suspect you are, as well.

Keep building bows, but keep up the great work with Colton.  I really respect what i see, and I thank you for sharing.

Yup, let's see... That's my Shelby (now 13-1/2) in the green next to James, and Emily in the pink on the other side of him. (she'll be 11 in December) Emily is 5'-6" now! She's taller than her older sister and thankfully less hormonal.  :banghead:
