lights for night-time target shooting?

Hi Gang:
Anyone have a good idea(s) that you could pass on for night time target shooting?

By the time I get home, attend to family, etc., it's pitch black out, and if I want to shoot, I need a better set up than what I have.

Any ideas?  portable floodlights?

I have a light above my backporch that i use for target shooting at night

First off you need to have a safe shooting range with a big backstop then try this.When it is pitch black set up a candle in front of your target and try to shoot out the flame.But make sure it is out front of your target so the arrow doesn't stop in the target with the feathers over the flame,you don't want to burn up your feathers.Or if you are shooting wood arrows finished in gasket lacguer.We also had coon shoots at some 3D shoots where you went around the course after dark and shot small game targets around 10 to 15 yds. with a flashlight.

use a laser pointed at your target you wont need lights

I have set my past Shooting Lanes up with FloodLights, but it wasnt going to bother any neighbors or anything as they were aimed at the Woods.
    Depending on Your Range Set Up, ya might get by with the Little Floods for Inside Use, just make sure they are put away when yer done!!

yep, deadsmple, that's what I was looking for, just ideas on "permanent" solutions that work well.

I like the lazer pointer idea.Haven't tried it yet,gotta find a chep/free one! I just lay a flashlight on the ground about 10 yds or so in front of my bale and stick a piece of gum wrapper onthe bale.Note ,don't try this if you gap:) the light kills your night vision so there is no arrow in sight when the light is between you and the bale.

i use one of those 6volt flashlights with angle type base.  just place it half way down range and shine on target.

I have thought about setting a pole in the back yard, hanging a 175 watt mercury vapor light(dusk to dawn light) Then i could hang a tree stand in it also for that kind of practice. Then i want to build a backstop with a roof over it to help protect the backstop, i would use hay bales. I then would put a light up inside the roof area to light up the target. Of course you would have to run some underground wire to them but i figured it wouldn't cost that much. I hope to do it this summer.

A good chaep lighting system is to take a battery operated Coleman lantern and cover one side with aluminum foil creating a reflector. That way you can get the light shining on your target and not back at you causing your eye to go to it instead of your target. Definatly uase a back stop.

You need two lights.One on each side or you have too many shadows if you shoot more than one arrow at a time.

Park the huntin truck in the backyard turn on the headlights (hi beam) stand on the hood and shoot all night.
AND YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK.

As for the "shooting in the morning", it's dark when I leave in the a.m., too! (darn this "work" thing..)
