Hickory backing on a lemonwood bow?

I have a half dozen Fleetwood lemonwood bows that I use in my archery class.  They are all between 18 and 22 lbs.  I have some students who would like to try a little bit heavier bow and was wondering if I could put a hickory backing on them.  I've never worked with lemonwood before and am not sure if the hickory would overwork the lemonwood.  If not, how thick do you think a backing should be and will it pick up 10# +/-?

Thanks,

Stan

Stan,

There was an article in Primitive Archer (1 or 2 issues ago) on someone backing a lemonwood board with hickory.  It turned out well and I was done in the past with success.
