I have both, switched over to tapered in the last 6 months.
I was stumpshooting this am and noticed no difference between the tapered and parallel and how they fly. Is there really that much difference between them???
If so I can't tell.

I've shot both for a long time.  If they're well matched to the bow, I don't think one can tell any difference in their flight, other things like spine and weight being equal.  Taper moves the FOC a little forward, which should help in penetration, but there, too, the difference would be slight.

I agree, The only advantage to me was I could use a smaller nock which resulted in less finger pinch along the nock.

I don't see much difference at all in flight but the tapered to me are just a little bit harder to fletch.

I prefer tapered shafts.  The difference is probably slight, but I do think they are more forgiving and I need all the forgiveness I can get.

The biggest difference that has been explained to me when it comes to penetration is that on impact the tapered have less weight in the back and therefore less deflection (bending) and quicker recovery for entering game.  Whether or not it is a measurable difference is for people other than me to determine.  This is the same principle that Alaska Bowhunting uses with the fully tapered Grizzlystiks.
