I know this has been posted a thousand and one times, but I cant seem to find it with the search function.  :rolleyes:

What is the spine rating of 55/75's and 75/95's?
(measured the trad way)
Thank you.
Marc

Matty

would the trad way be on a spine tester??? or the old scale method????

Lonehowl

Matty,I am thinking spine tester. I thought I read on here somewhere that 55/75's spined out at like  90 pounds or something? I was just wondering if anyone has come up with any accurate numbers?

boavida

Lonehowl, I'm Shooting 28" Goldtip arrows 55/75, 145gr field points or broadheads, with no problem. My bow is a Border Black Douglas ultra, 56" long, 58# at 27".
I shoot 3 fingers under.
My draw lenght is 26 1/2 ". Those arrows fly really well. So....

Kingstaken

I'm shooting 55/75 GT @ 29" w/ a 145gr tip out of my 65#/27" JD Berry longbow . Bare shafts shoots bullets w/ split finger.

These are the numbers from Gold Tip and the Easton arrow chart

Golt Tip Traditionals  and Easton XX75

55-75= .400 spine     75-95=  .300 spine
2117=  .407 spine     2119=   .337 spine
2116=  .376 spine     2317=   .297 spine

These are the just numbers as to referance points
between, carbon and aluminium arrows.  As most have found out, carbon reacts stiffer than aluminium of the same spine.

Thanks all. I was drawing 29" when I started shooting, but have gotten stronger and my draw length is increasing a bit. I have long arms and comfortably draw 30". Thinking about going to carbon. I was shooting a 30" Legacy 2117 when I was drawing 29".
I tinkerd with carbons(gt's) a while back, but got discouraged.

I shoot a Checkmate HunterII, 53@28,DF97 string.
Im thinking a 31"GT, but, it seems Im on the edge.Bareshafting shows pretty weak with 55/75, (but hits where I look same as fletched) but way to stiff with 75/95. I was really thinking 55/75's would be about right, but dont know now.
I guess I could fletch up a 75/95 and pile the weight on it and see how that shoots.

Any suggestions?

Featherbuster

i am shooting 55/75 at 29" with 100 grain inserts and 150 grain head and love them.

Hey Lone. How weak does it show?  Just a inch or so right of target  is ok.  seams to be the most forgiving. RH shooter....Mark

Des,really weak, but I think Ill keep testing and try 75/95's as well. Also, my release aint the greatest so Im working on that as well, it may have something to do with it.
Thanks all.
