Hackalong?  far from it!  Great looking knife!

great looking knife Terry. I like the shape of the blade and the size of the overall knife.
I have a antler that I have started making a knife handle out of and was looking at some of the Helle blades to use. Has a nice burr on the end to carve in. This site sure gets the juices flowing!! Are you going to build the sheath also?

say a guy didn't have a lot of bandsaw blades lying around... where might he find one?

Chort..... I haven't started on the sheath but I've been thinking on what I want to do for one and looking at some leather and snake scraps I have lying around......... When Doug campbell passed through here a couple of months ago he gave me some pointers on sheaths I'll be trying out......Iron Rhino...... If I were you I'd go to any local machining shop and ask if they would let you have one.....From what T-Mac posted above a butcher shop might be a good option..... The four blanks I'm working on now started out as a cross cut hand saw..... I see those at swap meets and garage sales all the time..... I've also been eyeing up old table saw blades...... any tool designed for cutting will work....... Terry

ironrhino - most meat markets these days use disposable saw blades on their meat saws. They may not have a old blade on demand, but may save one for you when they change blades on their saws if you ask real nice.  :bigsmyl:   If the market resharpen blades then the old blades are sent back to be resharpened. I work for Kroger and we have been using disposabe blades for many years now. I still have not had time to measure the blades but they might still work. The blade width may depend on the brand of and size saw being used. It never hurts to ask your local "butcher". We also us a scallop blade that has been going over in my mind since I first saw this post. May be useable.  ;)
Slow down and enjoy life.  It's not only the scenery you
miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where
you are going and why.
