Traditional Bowhunting Starter Kit

I am new to this forum and I want to start shooting a traditional bow. I would like to get feed back on what a good starter bow is, arrows, and anything else I need to get started. Interested in a recurve. Looking to start hunting next season so I can practice endlessly this coming summer. Thanks for your help ahead of time.

Welcome to the forums! For gear, you should take a look at 3 Rivers Archery. They have a "new to trad archery" tool that takes the info you put in and gives you a new bow package that gives you pretty much everything you need to get started. For about $430, you'll get a takedown recurve (if it's not a Samick Sage, it looks a lot like one) with the weight of limbs appropriate to your archery experience, string, stringer, string silencers, quiver, arm guard, shooting glove, 6 carbon arrows, field points, and broadheads. The arrows and points/broadheads will be close to what you would need for tuning purposes as far as spine, length, and point weight go. You might be able to find all of this cheaper by piecing stuff together, but 3 Rivers will take care of you!

Besides that, I would suggest looking up resources on how to shoot a traditional bow (there are plenty here!), maybe consider getting a shooting tab as well as a shooting glove and see what you like better, don't be afraid to start shooting close to the target (5 yards or less), and before you fall down the rabbit hole of arrow tuning, make sure your form is spot on.

Hi and welcome, if you're just starting out I wouldn't get a high end bow, not yet wink wink.
Look at antique or thrift stores for an inexpensive bow.
I just picked up a stemmler Turk recurve at our local shop. 30$.  It's in great used shape.
You can upgrade as your knowledge grows.
Give us your draw length if you know.

Coaching is huge.

The trad bow may be simple, but shooting it isn't as easy as it looks!

Tom Clum (Solid archery mechanics) has a fantastic online course- wish I would have started with it. I'm learning a ton, going to take some work to un-do some bad habits, but it will pay dividends down the road!
