I can arrow a deer without hesitation but this girl seems to break my heart.
Just something about her that really tugs at my heart strings.

Yes, you are getting soft... So Am I! Guess it has to do with our age...

Not soft, just cutting a deer a break, which is understandable in this case.

Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Your not getting soft, Im pretty sure if you had hungry kids that hadn't ate in a couple days, she would be on the table. Its just called "respect" ,,,, When one is grown man, you see an animal that has survived trama, and who knows what happened, most likely a gunshot, but  guaranteed whatever it was it was a tuff deal, you leave it alone to live out its life in peace.

As mentioned it depends on your need.  Also as we mature recognizing those who have overcome adversity need to be shown some kindness.

There's a buck a couple miles from my house that is missing his entire front leg. Healed over like it was professionally amputated. My wife sees him often on her way to work. She just saw him a couple days ago, no antlers. We were wondering if he would drop them or not. I was glad to see him make it through deer season. No way I would shoot him. There's also a doe behind my house where I hu t I call Socks, her front legs are all white. Big smart doe, but I've had her in range a couple times the last 2 years and always pass her, guess I'm soft...

My logs reveal that I make in the neighborhood of 100 trips annually to the field. There have been seasons where I have never loosed a single arrow. I do not possess the killer instinct.

Enjoying the close encounters and taking in the full experience fulfills my needs.
