What is out there? I'm a western wa rainforest guy and can't handle rusty broadheads after every hunt any more. Puting them in my quiver is like sticking them into a wet sponge.

I know of

abowyer brown bear and boneheads
Tuffhead
Steelforce

What do you guys know?

Cool. And please people if I'm just stupid and I'm the only one who doesn't know how to keep these things from rusting please let me know! I have heard a couple of tricks, but they didn't hold up to my level of rain.

VPA makes the 3 blade in stainless, not sure about the 2 blade. There was a good deal on eBay not too long ago, under $50 for 6 of them. Have no experience with them. I do know they harden them to the same Rockwell as their carbon steel heads.

German Kinetics are good and Iron will do some nice stainless as well, I like to coat mine in a thin layer of Vaseline, works for me,regards wayne

TuffHead makes two models of stainless broadheads. They are both two blades single bevel. They make them in a glue on models or screw in models. They are made with 420 HC stainless
They are a great broadheads but I am partial as I use to make them. Jason(WOJO) the new owner's web site is www.tuffhead.com. He is a sponsor here.

Didn't Bear make some Super Razorheads for a while too? Seems to me like maybe in the late 80's.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Didn't Bear make some stainless Super Razorheads also for a while?

I just carry a small bottle of oil in my pocket and reapply liberally and often. I use it on my Damascus skinning knife too, as well as my original make old 1960's old timer.

It is a pain, but I guess I enjoy working with traditional steel. Nothing ruins a razor edge like oxidation though. Ugh.

Here is a tip: never store your rifle in its case, your knife in its sheath, or your broadheads in their quiver. All will rust quickly there. Keep them oiled, and never store them in their case longer than is necessary.

I used to have a bunch of SS Razorheads, but they were very hard to sharpen. I gave them to a friend. One thing, though, is that stainless does seem to hold an edge well if you can attain that degree of sharpness.

Muzzy Phantom made ss 200 gr. or 220 with bleeders. I don't know if they still make them, but I still have a half doz. of them.

I hear you guys thanks I'll give those things a try. I finally had enough on my last week-long elk hunt in the rainforest. It was kind of a joke. The sharpie has me intrigued. I'll have to try that for sure. If not it's petroleum jelly time. but it would be sweet just to get a stainless head. I really like those abowyers. I really like the tough guy tattoo they're just a bit too heavy.

Fluid Film...best rust prohibitive I've ever used.  Used on farming implements to prevent rust.  Made of lanolin and sticks to metal.  Spray it in the slots of my bow Quiver hoods....

My experience is with Tuffheads. They don't rust or oxidize in my quiver. I don't live or hunt in a rainforest. They stay sharp till the next year.
Last year I missed a buck in the snow and the deer kick my arrow leaving and broke it. Frozen  ground wouldn't allow a recovery.  The ground is wet in this area so I waited till summer to retrieve it. Mid summer I remember it and dug around and found the head without any rust on it. The broadhead adapter had rust. Others may be just as good can't say but I would try them although they are an investment.

Although I use fluid film on all my heads non-stainless, I have had no rust issues with at least 4 different head manufacturers....Morrison Extreme. Zephyr Sasquatch, Muzzy Phantom, Original Silver Flames.

Saw an ad for one from Germany called Blitz, don't know anything else about it.  Too heavy for me though.

BTW, I listened to a podcast from tradquest, episode 83, Mike Berret ( might have that last name wrong) anywho he tested break strength of a lot of these, one in particular, you don't want. I hope it's okay I mentioned that, otherwise just give me my spanking!
