I know about aiming for the middle of the middle, but how big are the vitals of a black bear ?

If you look at a bears rib cage from the front or rear you would see it is more horizontal shaped than a deer . This is the reason we always kept our treestands rather low to keep the angle of the arrow more flat.  Depending on the size of the bear their lungs are a little smaller than an adult deer but I would say their heart is about the same . The last bear I shot I hit right in the middle of the body didn't look like a good hit but he died in 40 yards . The big snuffer hit something good !

Shoot for just behind the front leg , make sure its at a good angle for double lung and look at something about the size of a cantaloupe.

Do not aim for the middle of the middle or you will gut shoot him.

Middle of the middle is a fallacy on a bear or hog. That's to far back. Tuck it closer to the front leg

goingoldskool

Little bit bigger than a football.... if you can double lung it, he should be down inside of 50 yards.
