Kids Bows

I have done some searching on the old threads here, but not a lot of feedback being returned of recent. I have a nephew who showed some interest and was wondering what are folks using for young kids. He turns 13 next month and is pretty small for his age. Was thinking like 20-25lbs. Arrows?

Anyone have any recommendations? It will be something I keep to test out when he is over with the hopes that he likes it and I will gift it to him or wait another few years for my son.....he's almost one

Check out Black Rhino or Maddog bows.

I would get a Sage or Galaxy TD recurve bow, 54-62", at 25#. About $100-$125. With aluminum 1616 or carbon 800 arrows should make a great combo. A small stature person should draw that bow 24-25", which would be about 15#- 18#.

These guys show up in all the kids bow threads with good reason! American Bowyers who will gladly speak with you about the specific child's needs. Haven't had the pleasure of getting my hands on a Black Rhino but my Grandsons have Pups that Mike built and they'll smoke some 1000 spine PSE Razorbacks👍

We've gone through several Mad Dog bows over the years, and they are great!! Last year we also picked up a lefty recurve for my daughter at the Black Rhino booth at Compton. It's a great little bow, too!

We've never had one, but I have heard that St. Joe River Bows makes some fine kids' bows, too.

I think the name "Sammick" is renamed but the new name is on the same bow. My youngest daughter has a sammick little fox and my wife and middle daughter have galaxy bullseye's. Once you have the risers you can order longer and heavier limbs so the setup options are great from beginner to advanced. LAS is a dream to deal with and they stand behind there products.

All are shooting Easton vector arrows 1000 and 1400 spine. The bows I got from Lancaster archery supply and arrows not sure. Both are very inexpensive but great quality.

I also have purchased many Black rhinos for my kids and nephews, and I have one of Mike's pups in my basement. Great long bows for kids to start on.

We've had three Elk Ridge Archery bows, one Black Rhino. I've a 36# Maddog and I've seen and held the St. Joe River kids bows and watched kids shoot them. Pick the one you like within your budget and you won't go wrong. Something to think about is a trade up program. Each maker should be able to help with sizing and arrows as well.

My son is 12 and he is also small for his age. I got him a Samick Little Fox last summer with 20# limbs and it is a nice little bow. I was fortunate enough to have a local traditional archery shop close with some different youth bows for him to try out and he liked and shot the Samick best. Good luck and congrats on getting another youngster into archery!

My 7 1/2 year old daughter has a st Joe river bow. They have a great trade up program in place. They offer multiple color options as well which kids really like. I'm actually kind of jealous of her bow...its pretty sweet!

One of my daughters won a Maddog Pup, and the other has a dual-shelf Pup since it's been hard to tell, but we're pretty sure she's right handed but left eye. The dual shelf kids bow is a great idea, because it has the potential to serve more kids! My girls also have Dryad Gryphons, which are really awesome little recurves.

I got a black Rhino for my little guy a few years back. I think he was 4 at the time. I actually got an unfinished blank from them which was great. If I couldn't build him a full one myself, it was at least nice to have a little part in building it for him.
