I like risers that are cut far past center, but I'm kind of worried about the strength of a takedown riser made like that. I was going to have a hidden I-beam of 1/4" phenolic and 1/8" of UL fiberglass, both pieces 1.5" wide and running through the full length of the riser, as well as another 1/4" of phenolic in a straight lam and 2 strips of glass. The bow is going to be 1.5" wide, but I'm going to laminate extra wood over the window side, so the riser will be cut 1/4" past center and with a 3/4" thick window. Do you guys think this is enough riser for up to 52 pound limbs?

I built my takedown risers 1 7/16 wide. I've been using  a hidden I beam of about an 1/8 of fiberglass. Riser is cut 5/32 deep and site window is around 9/16 thick. I also put stripping and overlays of fiberglass. I have put 65 lb on them with no worries.

I'd replace the phenolic with G10!! Then go for it!

Crittergetter, I would like to, but I'm getting my supplies from Binghamand they don't sell g10, so I'd have to buy separately from big jim. Also, I don't have the tools to work with g10, especially not tapping and drilling it.
