I found a choke cherry bush while hunting last fall and cut a couple branches that were about 1" in diameter and almost 5 ' long. I worked on this one for a couple hours today. I had to make it asymmetrical due to a large knot under where my hand is. The upside is the bow also bends there to make it nearly center shot. 55"long, 33#@26". The other branch is much more evenly tapered and will turn out much better than this I think. Happy with it over all though.

Hey that's too cool! Looks like it has you in a strain though! Lol
Stumpshooting; Slinging sticks with sticks toward the origin of the sticks.

even when doing a quickie bow you still need to ensure there is a good taper. Your upper limb is doing most of its bending near the handle and the lower isn't bending hardly at all! That stick is in danger of breaking and whacking you on the head! Be careful!
On the next one keep using your fingers as calipers and check for an even taper from handle to tip. Good luck  :)
