I am building a 1 piece 60" recurve. And  I'm wondering if there is a better side of the bow for your tapers?  The belly of my bow is flat and the fade out ramps are on the back if that makes a differance.

Usually the tapers go up the ramps due to being thicker and harder to bend.  On my one piece the ramps are on the belly side (facing the shooter) and the parallel runs the length of the back of the bow(side away from shooter).  I don't think it makes any difference from a performance standpoint just what is easier to build.  IMHO another way to say it is put the tapers where the least amount of bend will be.

On my one piece recurve form the belly side of the riser is flat. My form has a 002 taper glued onto the form thin sides to the middle.. So when gluing up a bow I put the taper on belly side and any parallel up the ramp on the back of the bow. I have a longbow form that I have to run a 001 taper up the ramp on belly side and a 002/inch taper on the back of the bow. I keep all tapers or parallels under 0.070" thick that will run up the riser ramp.

Have some lams ready for glue up soon.  What I found is that parrelell on the back does not want to bend as easily instead of the belly side..?
The taper lams seem to follow the contour more easliy and simply press into position.     Maybe I'm missing something what are the ramps again.

this 35# bow has  the taper on the belly side and only glass on the back side of the riser.

this longbow has a 0.100 thick 002/inch taper on the back side and a 070 thick 001/inch taper and a parallel or two up the belly ramp
