Hi guy's, has anyone ever used white oak (laminated together with its self) to build a r
iser? If so, how did it turn out? Thanx,...Lloyd

Oh ya, what glue would you use to laminate the pieces with......Lloyd

Yes, but it's not the prettiest, or best wood.  Epoxy.

White oak is plenty strong but I agree not the prettiest. Personally I think hickory looks better when we'll finished and it's also everywhere.

Is there any place to get some nice riser wood that is close to Michigan. Thanx

LittleBen

Can't help as I've never even been to Michigan. But if it comes down to it you could always order a riser block from someone.

Not sure if Troy D. breeding does riser blocks but I'd contact him. Also I believe Big Jim sells riser blocks to guys looking for really top stuff. Good luck.

You could use your white oak as an accent with: Walnut or cherry and make a nice looking riser for cheap. Check out your local cabinet shops, they usually have scarp (short pieces) that will work great for laminating risers.

The Woodcraft store in my area has blocks of various hardwoods that would work for a riser.  Any Woodcraft stores near you?
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.
