What are you guys using to clean up your putty knife/whatever you use to apply smooth on?

Will acetone or mineral spirits work?

soap and water if it hasn't solidified

I use all throw away stuff for the glue up. I make a putty knife from a left over piece of lamination. Wad the whole mess up in the wax paper table cover and throw in trash.

But yeah, soap and water. Or a hammer if it is hard.

I use big orange hand cleaner. It works better than soap and water but if you dont have any big orange handy soap and water works fine.

I am with Jason just use a piece of lam and throw it away.  I did use a metal putty knife for awhile and would put it in the hot box just grind the glue off before the next glue up.  It just seems easier to throw it away.

X's three on the cut offs and throw away the whole paper lay out.  Way easier

I still use plastic "bondo spreaders".. I buy the wide ones and cut them in 2 or 3 pieces with my shop scissors. I tried using cut offs and metal putty knives, I prefer using a clean new plastic bondo spreader each build..

Waterless hand cleaner, followed by soap & water works on the hands, or wear latex gloves. I use a tuna can, plastic spoons or Popsicle sticks and a metal putty knife, all over rolled out paper on my bench. I throw away everything with the paper except the knife, which I squeeze/wipe between layers of the paper to remove the glue. This has worked for all my bows so far.

I use the short pieces of cut off glass. Just wrap one end with tape to keep the slinters out of your fingers. Then pitch it when done.

I let it dry and clean it up on the belt sander before next use...
