Best Bow Scale

I'm looking for a new bow scale. What do you all use? Give me some ideas. Thanks

I use a luggage scale from good ol walmart.

But the digital one looks cool too. Just needs modified to hook onto the string. I would reverse the hooks on it if I bought it.

I use a cheap digital one, purchased from that known auction site, that looks EXACTLY like the digital one mentioned above by Roy from Pa. Mine measures up to 40 Kg (close to 90#), and can give readings in Pounds, Kg and something else I don`t remember. It can also hold a highest reading for a few seconds. And it was very cheap. I do not have another one to compare it to, but I tried to calibrate it using measured liters of water (1 liter=1Kg), and could not find a measureable error worth mentioning. Mind you, if it is accurate to +- 5%, and repeatable, it is good enough for what I do. And Roy from Pa is right about another thing: the hooks are not helpful, especially the closed loop above.

I have used the x-spot on 60-70 bows. Its flown across the shop more than once when a bow rocked off my tree. Still tickin'. I will replace them with digitals when the time comes.

Scott I think the luggage scale explosion is a perfect exampe of getting what you pay for. Luggage scales may run up to #100. They are designed and made to briefly hold that weight then set it down gently. Making bows for most requires a zillion pulls at sometimes awkward angles or with awkward forces. Those scales, I dont believe, are designed to perform that task over and over. Im sure somebody has built a multitude of bows with a luggage scale, but for me the extra 25-30 bucks is money well spent when I know Im buying scales designed/made for bows.

Yupper Pearly, it would hurt if a cheap scale blew apart and ended up destroying a bow.

Ya'll knocking my bow scale. lolol..Lucky for me my luggage scale is worth more than my bows usually are. lolol  The one I've got isn't digital and its got a two needles..the indicator needle and one that stays at the highest poundage.  So I can just pull it smooth and easy to the draw length and let it down.  I don't have to hold it to read the scale.  Its probably a piece of crap. lol

I use the Hanson Hand Held Scale because the weight registers and stays and I attach it to the string and hold the scale in my Hand. Jawge

HA.  The funny thing is Roy I don't disagree with you at all. lolol.  Great looking bow Pearl sent you by the way.  He does amazing work.

I like that tree Virgil.  I never though about hanging a bow with a strap.
