I am totaly new to archery so please bear with. I just got my first bow which is a very simple linnen backed redoak 40 lb long bow. I am learning to shoot it with practice and reading.
Bow making appeals to me being an expierenced wood worker. I live at sea level on Puget sound and am wondering if any of the local growth make a decent bow? We have Western Maple, Alder,a couple of different Fir,Cedar,Hemlock. Any of these sound like bow wood, or should I just buy something to start with?
Thanks for any advice
