Looks like black walnut but I need to see more of the tree and the limb does not look quite right so I guess Im no help realy.  I dont think it is red oak.

Hard to say. Red oaks usually have darker bark than that. Wait till the leaves pop out and it will be easy to tell.

red hill

I vote for walnut, also. The bark is deeply furrowed like walnut.

The flowers and limb do look like elm and while the trunk bark looks a little rougher than I would expect I think I will change my vote to elm.

Are you gonna cut it for bow wood? Looks like a really big tree.

Flyboy718

Just a few limbs that look good.

Find something you know for sure will make a bow before you put too much work into cutting the wood. No since in cutting on a tree if the wood isn't appropriate for bows.

Pat this one is coming down with a track hoe and will be pushed into a pit and burned, I have a favor called in to get a few 10" or so diameter limbs sawn to 8' length.  No labor on my end except loading in my truck.

The branch doesn't have the corky wings that winged elm has.
