Kind of a shot in the dark here...but I am really interested in making a couple clones of the Herter's Perfection 46" recurve.  Wright makes a copy of this bow named the Stalker.  I hear they are sweet little bows, but I cannot seem to get my hands on one to take some measurements.  I basically just want to mark out the profile on a sheet of paper and take the necessary measurements for riser length, limb width and limb thickness, etc in order to build a form.  I was wondering if anyone has one, and it so...if anyone would be interested in marking it out on paper and taking a few measurements.  I would be happy to give you something or do you a favor in return.   Thanks

I to would like to have that info.  When I was a teenager one of my buddies ordered one, his looked nothing like the stalker.  His had large horns on the riser and a rosewood riser.  Best I remember it seemed to shoot well.

I had a Hertes bow ( new ) in 1966. It was beautiful, like a dummy I GAVE it away! Oh well!!

would an email of a good profile photo help of both 46" herters bows. you could blow them up and cut patterns or go to fedex kinkos and have them put on a clear paper and use an overhead projector or a number of other ideas to get the photos full size. jim

It would indeed...but I suppose I will still need a couple measurements, to blow it up to the correct size...maybe a straight line measurement nock to nock.

JIM FRANK

I have a 52" Herters perfection that I will copy and take the measurements you want just tell me what you need.

I sent you a pm Jim.  I appreciate that offer.

I have some great pics provided by Jim (AALLFAB) and some excellent measurements of the riser, thickness, length of the lam stack from two 46" Herter's .  I have blown them up and printed them out, so this weekend I will make a template (which will then be used to make a form).

I know a couple guys said they were interested in these plans, so after the template is made I will trace it out a couple 8 x11 sheets of paper, including any other pertinant data needed to make a bow...I'll scan them in electronically, so if anyone wants an electronic copy just send me a pm with your email address.

Ok guys.  I blew these pics up on my PC and printed them out, taped them together with 11x17 paper.  I think it got it exactly the size of the original.  Fade to fade is 12" and ntn (straight line) is 40.5".  Check it out compared to my 50" recurve, the 46" template is below and I also made a 48" copy (just blew it up a bit more) above it.

wow... the 46" looks great... I just measured my new short bow and it's 49" n-t-n when strung...and I thought it looked like a kids bow...it's tillered to 64#@31"...
