Okay, Santa brought me an etch-o-matic to mark my blades for Christmas. Now I need an idea for a personal mark. Any suggestions? Should I just go with my name or try to come up with a logo? I'm just a hobby knife maker but have been told I should put some kind of personal mark on my blades. Ideas welcome!!! Mike

Mike-

Your question is a good one and I agree that if you start puting knives out there (even though you're a hobbyist) it's worth putting a personal mark on.  Ed Caffrey (ABS M.S.) has a decent article on his site (  http://www.caffreyknives.net/Makersmarkarticle.html  ) where he discusses his thoughts on what a maker's mark should be.  Not everyone goes that route, but I think his opinion is at least good to read.

Whatever you decide, congrats on the etch-o-matic, Santa was kind.  Be sure to post some pics of your cool maker's mark-I'm always looking for good ideas....   :)  .

I would recommend your name. Logos, brands, and images will always be subject to an explanation. What ever you decide, it's better than not having them marked. I look forward to seeing it.
