Well I'm still in shock, got some bad news a couple days ago. After all the work, planning, finagling... to get knives done and get to Atlanta for the ABS Journeyman test I'm not eligible to take the test yet.

ABS rules state you must be an Apprentice Member for a minimum of three years to be eligible for JS testing. I would have bet my life that I'd joined the ABS in May/June of "06" but got notice a few days ago from Jan Dubois, the ABS Secretary, that I was a few months short of three years. According to her records I joined in Sept of "06" and three days of digging proved her records were right. At the time of the Atlanta Blade Show I'll have in 2 years and 8 months...

To say I'm disappointed is a massive understatement but it hasn't been a total loss. Everything is already set up for an Atlanta trip so we're still going. Now it'll just be a fun trip instead of a serious one. There'll be more time for visiting and bow shooting and visiting with JC, Terry, Sky, Don, Karl, Lin, Ray, Dan, ....  And I've got some really nice knives to sell, hint, hint.

It's been an incredible learning experience and should make life easier for the show next year...

Life goes on, thanks for the support for the past few months from y'all....

Thats a bummer Doug!! Forget about it, have a great time anyways and rock their socks next year. With a bunch like that to hang out with you know it's going to be a good time.

Doug,
Your showing what your made of and it's good stuff.    :notworthy:  I hate it for you, but you'll have fun and get a good look at what the whole experience will be like. Sort of a preview of good things to come. It'll be worth the wait. Lin

OH Man that is a blow!  Have a ball at Atlanta anyway.

Molly & I just this week signed a contract to build a house and barn in Aiken.  It will be ready in the fall so you an Karen are sure welcome to stay there next year.  Heck you know you're welcome anytime  ;)  I'll be in Atlanta for sure next year...Doc

Does this mean you have to give away that knife you built for the test?   ;)

That is a bummer Doug, go and have a great time anyway. It will be a learning experience and a lot of time to spend with friends.

Doug,  Just a reminder, make sure your performance portion of the JS test does not expire before the next Blade Show.  You don't need that stress right before the show next year.  Just something to think about. Should have 2 years.

Sorry to hear that Doug.  But now you can relax a bit.  Look forward to seeing you at there.

Doug, hate to hear that.  Traditional Bowhunters of GA is having a shoot that Saturday at JC's house bring your bow and come to it.  We would love to have you there.
