Hormoan (Brent McCormick) send me a set of buck antlers than he had harvested.  We had talked about making them into a trophy blade at Texas Sweat '08.  Talked isn't quite right, you listen and laugh when Brent is on a roll   :D    He is one of the funniest guys I know!

Anyway good thing I don't sell knives as here it is over a year later.  Here it is in the building stage.  Thought I'd start these pictures so Brent could come on and change things before quenching and pinning up.

It's always tough to take a blade saw to someone else's antlers   :scared:   Plus this one was harder cause Brent is left handed...I can't understand how anyone can pull a bow back or use a knife left handed   "[dntthnk]"   Doc

Hormoan, So far so good, she quenched without any problems.  The edge hardness is around 60 Rockwell.  Off to the oven and just final polishing grind, pin & glue up, and she'll be ready for some serious duty like cuttin' up bratts or even an occasional deer  ;)

Hormoan,
I don't know how special this buck was...but if you want to get fancy, I can give you Rebecca's email.  She and Shell can make any old knife look special!  Doc

WOW!!  Now that's purty!

I'd be a little concerned though, about sendin a sharp pointy object to a fella that's Hormoanal. Especially around St. Judes time. What if he don't get no KOOOOOKies and goes postal. With that pointy thing the whole state of Michigan would be in jeopardy.

Doc, is that sompthin you can live with?  :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:    :wavey:

Seriously, it couldn't be goin to a nicer fella.

Congrats Brent, you'll have to call me and tell me about the first time it made you bleed!
