Anybody use leafsprings for making knives? What's the steel like?
Eat, drink, and be merry...  
For tommoro we may die.

Most leaf springs made before about 1973 are 5160 which is a very good knife steel.  More modern stuff may be more exotic alloys that may or may not respond to common oil quench and tempering.
