We need to pray for all the people of Texas as Hurricane Harvey is causing tremendous devastation. These folks are tough and will bounce back, but this will still be a struggle.

I heard somewhere they're afraid the storm will head back to sea, replenish itself, then hit coastal LA....

PRayers are indeed called for.  So ez to focus on our own boo-boos and trials, and forget others live places that can be unfriendly weather wise!

Houston is getting pounded right now, with a bunch more rain in the forecast.  One model predicts that Harvey will dip back into the gulf and strengthen into a Tropical Storm or possible a Cat 1 Hurricane before making landfall in Surfside, just south of Houston.  There are many, many people in dire straits.

My daughter lives in downtown Houston along Buffalo Bayou. She is high and dry in her 5th floor apt and still has electricity. She works for Customs and Border Protection and is in direct contact with the incident commander with DHS and is keeping us posted with how things are going. She told her office workers to stay home on last Friday and they should work from home. One of her office workers had her house flooded and her Dad and brother had to rescue her by boat at 4am Sunday morning.
They will be releasing water from 2 upriver dams which will increase the water depth another 6' possibly in the Buffalo Bayou. This is necessary to keep the flooding controlled a little better.
There will be more rain until Thursday night in the Houston area then it will move along the gulf, dumping lots of rain on Louisiana.

Yep, prayers for all. I checked on my aunt and uncle and they are safe so far and my cousins are safe as well as some close friends. Pat, I did not know your daughter worked for CBP. I will be retiring in November from CBP as a supervisor.

Danny, she is Deputy Associate Chief Council with CBP in Houston.
You've been talking about retirement for a few years. Better get started before you get too old.

Prayers for all that are in Harvey's path.
Looks like the weather folks were 100% right on this one and many fled to higher ground but still many stayed to ride it out and praying for their safety every day.

BDann

Lots of folks in my neighborhood are getting flooded now.  Thankfully I'm on a high spot and still have power.

Prayers for those who are living through this.

Most of us can't go in person to help out directly, but we can make a monetary contribution. This is the time to come off the wallet, as these areas are going to need a LOT of help to recover. Government can't do it all, so our help is needed.
Sam

Doc Nock

our local game wardens are being activated and possibly sent to TX to help.

Lord calls us to help our neighbors, you bet!

We have no electricity at our house, but we stayed high and dry.  We have gas for the generator, water and food, and great neighbors.  Most of our neighborhood had 5' of water in their homes. I was able to help with rescues from my canoe Tuesday morning, and housed some neighbors until the waters receded enough to get out. Such a tragic situation, but the outpouring of support has been incredible!

Doc Nock

Brian,

I'm sure you make the Lord smile with your efforts in behalf of others.

Kudos!   :notworthy:

It is awe inspiring to see how everyday folks have stepped up in Texas and Louisiana to help their neighbors. God bless you all! We are still praying for the victims and the service providers.

It's hard to believe after the last few years, Sam but that is the American way...and the human way. We always come together after a tragic event. The problem is keeping it up after it over.
