I picked up this bow about a year ago. I was told it is an early to mid 50's model, brown glass, light colored wood in the riser.  Specs are:

60"
CW229
51#

I thought about refinishing it so my wronghanded, I mean lefthanded, son would shoot it but he has no interest in Trad archery now (compound shooter).  It has a small sliver of fiberglass on the back and edge of one of the limbs that I already superglued down.  I took some 600 grit paper to one of the tips and a few inches down the limb, and the bow looks like it would clean up nicely. Anyways, I have no interest in fixing up this old Bear bow and will most likely post it for sale. Is it worth anything?  Whats a reasonable price to ask for the bow?  I can email a few pics that I have.  Thanks

Sounds like a 1955 or 1956 Kodiak.

Pics of the Kodiak decal or silkscreen would help us make that determination.

Good shooting bows and that one is in a desirable length and weight.

I bought one of those about a year ago from a TradGang member and i love it.  I don't shoot it all that much but I'll tell you that it shoots just as hard as any of my other bows and I wouldn't hesitate to let it be my main bow.   My bow's serial is R.DZM 793, I think.   Maple riser, brown glass limbs, 60" 51#, etc.

My recommendation would be to repair any little tags or blems and keep it.   They're superlative little bows and God ain't making them any more.

The 55-56 Kodiaks look like these. 55 has decals while the 56 has silkscreens.
