I tried to search for the answer, but didn't come up with any info.

It is a 1966 Bear super Magnum 48, the string that is on there now is 43" exactly, I have been told that is not the correct length.

Brace height is 10 1/8" from the deepest part of the grip.

Any way to find out the correct length ?

Thanks

  • Hoyt Pro Medalist, 70" 42# @ 28" (1963)
  • Bear Tamerlane 66" 30# @ 28" (1966)- for my better half
  • Bear Kodiak 60" 47# @ 28"(1965)

You need about a 44" string. Mine is 44.5, and the brace is about 8.25. I'd say they need about 8.5 to 9" brace.

Maybe your 43" string will stretch a bit if it is a flemish string. Leave it strung a while and see.

Thanks,

It's not a flemish, where do you measure the brace height from on your bow ?

Thanks

I measure from the string to the throat of the grip.

O.K., then it's 10 1/8" so it is way too short. Thanks again for the info.
