My latest article in TBM, "Art Young's Polar Bear" has the wrong photo attached to the article.  It's not one of Art and his bear.  I may have sent the wrong photo and it didn't get picked up in the editing process.  Anyway, no need to deluge old Don Thomas about it, he's already been notified.   :)

Cliff,  Just received my copy of TBM.  That't an interesting story on Art Young -- one that I had never heard before.  I enjoyed the article!  Dave

"one that I had never heard before"

Do you mean, the story about his polar bear or a different story about his polar bear?

Tox Collector

I meant this story about his polar bear!  I don't know about any other polar bear hunts he made.  You always come up with new stories -- they are great!

The story is contained in the three books I noted as references, books written by three of the participants in the expedition.  Updates and experiences of the voyage were radioed back to the States and printed in newspaper articles in the New York Times as well as articles prior to and after their return which add more information.

These books and New York Times newspaper articles comprise most all the published information on the Greenland Expedition during which Art Young killed his polar bear, at least all I've been able to uncover.

Young did however publish an account of hunting walrus on the expedition in Field and Stream.

If anyone has new or other information on this subject, I'd really like the source.
