HH question

Does anyone have any info on Howard Hill bows? Saw one at a pawn shop, guy said it was a rare bow. Claimed that it was made by Howard in the last years of his life. He only made one a year up until his death was his claim. Didn,t have a camera or I'd taken a picture, but the bow was blonde colored limbs with a pecan colored riser section. On the lower limb it was marked 1934 commemrative and had a medallion in the riser on the window side appeared to be bronze hunting scene. Just curious cause he wants 799.00 for it and it looks pretty modern to me. Any info would help I'd like to make him an offer but need to know where to start. Thanks Art

How do you know it was really made by Howard Hill.. If it is a commeratve model, it was possibly made by someone else in the Hill style.

Howard did not make any bows himself after the Mid 1940's. That bow was made by Tim Meigs of Carson City NV. Tim made all the commerative bows for Howard Hill Archery.

Thanks for the info folks .     Aromakr- So I'm guessing 799 is a little out of line. Do you know what it sold for originaly?

Howard died in 1975, the commerative bows went into production shortly after that. I don't know for sure but would guess they sold in the $500.00 range could be off a 100 one way or the other. That would have been the 34th bow made. There were 75 bow scheduled to be made, commemorating each year of Howards life. I don't think all 75 were sold, so yes I think that is over priced.
