Good stuff Jimmy.  That 140 yard shot is unreal!  By the way, if I could, do you use a gap system when hunting whitetails, or does it become a more instinctive process when hunting?  Also, if you do utilize the gap system when hunting, do you ever find that you do not have enough time to setup and execute your shot on say a walking deer etc?

Ranger B

I do gap when hunting.  I see the tip of the arrow but I shoot all of my deer fairly close so it's pretty easy.  I shot a 10-ptr walking with a selfbow last year.  You make the assumption that you can't "gap" a moving target.  How do skeet shooters "lead" a skeet?  They lead it by setting a gap - that is gapping.  I shoot aerials as well.

I see what you mean Jimmy.  Just trying to learn.  I love your videos and your accuracy is quite inspiring.  Sorry for all the questions, but are you focusing on the spot and seeing the arrow in your peripheral vision, or is it the other way around, where you focus on the tip of the arrow and see the spot you want to hit in your peripheral vision?  Again, excellent videos.

I watched that video. Now THAT'S how I would like to my form to look!

I watched it several times, rewinding some of the sections over and over. Wow what a release. Not a feature in his face moves, his shoulders don't move. Nothing moves except the shot is away and his string hand is moving straight back!

Think I have a way to go   :biglaugh:

Great video! You put into words something that I have struggled to wrap my mind around. Your basketball analogy really hit home and makes complete sense. We are all slightly different, and not one aiming method will work perfectly for everyone. Thanks so much for putting up your videos, you have been a huge help to many rookie and veteran traditional archers.
