Shooting with One Eye Closed

Just screwing around the other day and started shooting with non dominent eye squinted or closed. Perception suck but groups tighten at 35 yards..yes 35 yard to a golf ball..well every other group!!.. After 25 years of shooting a recurve, my bow arm collapses or is not as steady as it once was.. i knew the culprit was a moving grip or torqued grip.  well it's moving....can really tell with one eye closed..may shoot a deer like this?..at 18 not 35!!!

I'd sure want both eyes open for target acquisition/ranging. Shot one eye closed on targets (w/ sight) for many years, but found it a bad habit for instinctive style, hunting.

I respectfully disagree with EcoRover. I shoot w/ one eye closed consistently--and with good accuracy. I think it's a matter of time spent at practice. And I shoot "instinctively."

pcg,how you liking that Hill Badger? I have a blacked out 62"coming to me in 2 weeks. Just want your opinion. As far as eye dominance goes,I
am blind in my left eye. I shoot RH,3 under,gap.
I don't know if my eye closes or not! never even think about it. But,if I could see out of it,I would think it may distract my aiming sequence. rat'

I keep both eyes open until I'm on target, everythings right, and I'm committed to the shot...then close my left eye (RE dominant) as I start to increase back tension.  Arne Moe suggested this as I was experiencing a "blur out" once I started rotating further into my back after anchoring. In my shot routine, this is the beginning of the conclusion of my shot.

Joebuck, I am cross-dominant-eyed, and I have to shoot with my left (dominant) eye closed, our close to it. I keep both open to range and acquire my target, then close or squint my dominant eye through my shot. I have found it to make my groups much better out to around 30 yds. Not sure if it's proper, but it works for me.

I shoot righty, split finger, gap shoot, close my left eye once Im at full draw.

I would like to try this too. I don't have a strongly dominate eye, so they fight one another.
