On Saturday i went to our archery club. I tried a new anchor point like rick welch does (the thumb knuckle behind the jaw bone). First shot i hit a tennis ball at 12 m dead center. Then i take 6 more shots on this ball. I hit the ball 5 more times then missed the last shot. 6 times in a row. Unbelievable ! Then a friend approached me. I told him about my test. Then i got back to 17m and shot 5 arrows where 3 are in the ball.

But on the 3D round i shoot very bad (with the new anchor test). I think with this anchor i tend to creep a lot.

Maybe i had a very good and lucky day and had hit the ball also with my normal shooting. Who knows.

I believe Rick's anchor is his thumb knuckle touching his earlobe, rather than behind his jaw bone.  I only raise this difference because you stated that you thought you were creeping.  A solid anchor like your thumb knuckle behind your jaw bone can lead to creeping if you relax some weight on it at full draw.  It is easier for me to maintain back tension with a floating anchor, like the earlobe, where my drawing hand just brushes my face, but doesn't make solid contact.

The thumb knuckle behind the jaw bone is a fine anchor, and many people use it successfully; you just have to make sure that you are maintaining back tension and not "leaning" your thumb knuckle against your jaw bone.

Dave, you may be right. I think i made to much pressure on the knuckle so get in conflict with the back tension. I will give it a new try soon. Thanks. But i will never know if i have had hit these balls with my normal shooting on this lucky day too ;-)

Another thought is that a tennis ball is small and so your concentrating on a smaller target than a 3D target. I tend to let myself shoot at the whole 3D target, rather than picking a spot. I could be wrong, just a thought.

@Snakebit40
We use this (or other) ball all the time to make some warm up shots. I can hit it maybe 3-4 times from 10 shots regularly.
