Hi all,

I just set up my recurve with cat whisker style  string silencers and almost all of my shots hit left now?  Is that possible? What is happening? How do I correct this?

Please help,

Yes. That is very normal. String silencers will cause your arrow to shoot stiff (left). Your arrows were probably border line stiff before you added the silencers. You can try raising your brace a few twists or lighter spine arrows or longer arrows or more tip weight or all the above to fix it. Try the brace first since its easiest and will cause less change in how your bow shoots.

It's amazing what silencers can do. I had two sets of spider silencers on my Widow and replaced one set with Hush puppies. I placed them according to how another member did. The bow sounded like a gun going off and the arrow flight was terrible. I ended up messing around and made them smaller and changed locations and now it just whispers when I shoot. Arrow flight is awesome too.

I believe if your arrow really is now stiff, I would try lowering brace height instead of raising it. Maybe I'm just thinking backwards though.

Austin for a stiff arrow you raise brace.  Its a common mistake for people to lower it though since lowering brace does equal a faster arrow but changing brace also changes the dynamics of how the arrow bends around your bow making you need to raise brace for a stiff arrow and lower it for a weak arrow. Try it out with a bare shaft.

Try trimming the cat whiskers down a bit; if that doesn't work, use mini woolie whispers.  Much lighter.
