Between the Martin Savannah and the Bear Au Sable, which would you choose. Between shootability, and lack of hand shock. Thanks for all opinions.

Savannah all the way...  BUT try to get a Savannah that's at least 5 years old. The older models limbs had much better tapers. IMHO

For me I'm kind of partial to Martin Savannah, still have mine I bought when they first came out.I have had quite a few of the Martin/Howatt bows! Near shot a Bear Au Sable but my friend has one and loves it,shoots great for him.For me I'm a Martin/Howatt man!

Never shot a Savannah, but did own an AuSable. Really fast bow -- seems to like stiffer arrows due to its speed. The only drawback -- the AuSable was the loudest bow I ever owned and I could never get it quite quiet enough.

I have a Larry Hatfield period Savannah. It is quick and quiet but I don't think I will be hunting any more. Recovering from another surgery at 76.  >>>----> Ken

I shoot an AuSable in 55#, Changed the strings to 60x and threw two synthetic beaver balls on it, and it's silent but violent.  I shoot 400gr Easton Axis Traditional wit 100gr insert and 125 gr tips.

Make sure the brace height is correct I think it's like 7 - 7.5 inches.  But it's amazing when you get it throwing right.

I liked the AuSable because I have big hands and the smallish grip felt amazing in hand.  I didn't but the grip wrap on it.  I like the feel of the bow and pending weather will shoot with a thin glove.

All in all, I love the bow.  If you have any other questions feel free to shake me down.

Better to be behind the bow, then in front of the arrow.
