Nice shooting Kopper and father. Tough bucks to go that far with those shots. The weather hasn't been helping but I let a very small 5pt walk by yesterday and that was all my wife and I saw all day. Time is winding down and I won't let many more smaller bucks get a pass. I'm waiting on the rain this am but will head out later. Good luck to all. Anybody seeing any chasing ?

Bobaru

Congrats Kopper, Kopper dad, and Kopper brother.  Awesome!!

Spent most of yesterday in a tree and saw three bucks cruising . Only a little spike came within my 30yd circle and I let him pass. They're moving , its gonna be cold sitting now ,but they will really show up if this snow that's coming down now sticks.

Snowing pretty good now going back out after lunch. Saw two does this morning had a shot at one from the ground had a deflection, I'm in a thorn apple thicket so tough shooting.

Still waiting to see some consistent movement in my area......high winds today

Finally starting to see some movement here. Winds gusting here to 40mph. Next week should be slot better weather wise, cool temps less wind.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Ground blind fail.

My wife went out for the first time this year, so I took her to a spot a little different and got her set up.  I moved down the hill for a location but happened upon a dynamite trail with thick goldenrod to the south side.  So, I cut two shooting lanes, and a whole in the center and made a home.

Saw three.  The last, 8 point, game me a shot (I think).  I saw the antler tips coming along the top of the goldenrod, and came to full draw.  He came to a stop at the shooting lane, and I released.  Super!!   (not really).  Just as nice as you please, he ducked that arrow and then went about his day!!

I believe this ground blind had two problems.  1)  the worst, my shooting lane was perpendicular to the trail.  If it were at an angle, I would have had a quarter away shot and he wouldn't have been alert (2)  when I cut the goldenrod, I should have cut higher, and I should have replaced the removed material with brush that was lower.

Anyway, there's still plenty of goldenrod to build a successful blind.  Twenty minute idea to completion almost netted a nice buck.

Finally saw my first buck this morning, a 5 point that I figure was 18 months old. He was a good looking deer. He was 10-15 yds away. I would have had an excellent shot on him, his nose was to ground and no clue I was there. I have only gotten maybe 5-6 deer with trad equipment. I am 71 and been at it a long time. I consider any legal deer with trad gear a trophy... sooo why did I elect to not shoot? I just watched after I picked my spot. I suspect that killing isn't as important as it used to be.... I hope I get over this soon...

Good job to all successful, and and I hope good times for all the rest of us.

I think this is the first year EVER I did not see a deer while bowhunting.  Zip and nada.

My game camera shows them well after dark, so I just chose the wrong area to sit.  Oh well.  That's why it's called "hunting".
