I am going to be building a take-down bow, somewhere around 74# @30" (I draw 30"), and was wondering if any of you guys have shot Beman MFX 340's or SST 240's out of a bow in the 70#'s. I would like to put 200-250 up front, and wasn't sure if either of these combinations would be too weak. Thanks
The 240's are around a 400 spine so they would be weak, especially with that tip weight, you will probably be able to shoot the 340's and will just have to play with tip weight and shaft length to spine, or may even have to consider going to a 300 shaft if you want to shoot that much tip weight. Good luck! Mark
I agree with Mark.At that length I thing they will be too weak with that much weight up front. You might have to shoot fatter carbons.
The farther from center it is cut the weaker the spine it will take.
As you are the bowyer you can control this when you build it by not cutting to center.
