I am looking for a very compact recurve bow. Does anyone have any suggestions, vintage or new, of a good compact recurve?
Give a 52 inch TimberGhost static tip a good long hard look. Also, Cascade makes a nice 52 inch bow.
Thanks. Great looking bows!
Is there any vintage models anyone would suggest? I would love to start cheaper and then spend some serious money if I like the compact bow.
Tenbrook recurve, Toelke Kestrel, Two Tracks Ambush, Bear Supermag 48, Bear Kodiak Magnum, Cascade recurves, Bob Lee
You might also look at the new "Sitka" from Blacktail Bows.
Did you say vintage? Damon Howatt HI-Speed.
X2 on Supermag, and Kodiak Mag.
many lil sucklings getting around? they are 44".
Wow, Amazing!!
What's your draw length?
28"
52" Cascade Nighthawk Mag .... great little bows
40" strung is pretty compact.

WOW. what's the brace height on those?
It may not meet your definition but a 56" Hill Country Cree is one sweet little bow!!!
13" dryad or morrison riser with some short or medium limbs would work too.
Kodiak Magnum, Shakespeare Super Necedah, pearson BPH-52.

x2 Great bows!
Two Tracks Ambush
Two Tracks makes a compact curve. I have a custom Wild Horse Creek Mariah that i love! 54" of smooth drawing/shooting excellence.
I have one of the Wild Horse Creek Kestrels. Maybe I need to make a trip up to see Mike about a Mariah.
I would look at a Lil' Hoots also. Very smooth shooting bows.
If your on a budget look at the Honor 56in bow by PSE nice bow for the money .
Get yourself a K Mag 52" curve. Bear nailed it on his bow. Can be bought on the net for cheap and most of the customs can't keep up.
You can still find Browning Wasp recurves that are real performers. 56". Maybe $125 to 150 in nice shape.

I've been wanting to give a Mariah a try myself.
There's a great Bear recurve in the classifieds now for $185, that looks to be new.
+1 on the Two Tracks....
Sierra Blanca bows.

I personally like the Toelke Kestral at 52 inches.
Lots of great options shown but I will x2 what Prairie Drifter mentioned and the Sierra Blanca Curve. Or as I call it: an RMR "knock off" as I believe it was un-named when I got mine and Jess Stuart(bowyer) makes no bones about what he was trying to accomplish creating this great bow. He used Rocky Mountain Recurves to create a match to the original riser and tweaked the limbs to make it better. I have both and Jess' shoots better for me. Great bows, great guy and if you don't go all fancy like the beautiful one Prairie has you can get them for a very reasonable price.

Mine is 56" but he can make them shorter
For inexpensive and a draw of 28" or less, go with one of the classics (Bear Kodiak Magnum or Browning's in the 52" and 54" length). If you've got a 28-29.5 draw, you're best to stay in a used 56" Super Shrew Classic Hunter or Little Favorite style of bow with small riser and longer working limb. If you've got a draw longer than 29.5, you probably will be disappointed in a truly compact bow.
K-Mag or RER Arroyo
Jd lund recon semi-static 45" strung. Little speedster

What about an old Sheepeater Spirit with the narrow grips?
Browning Cobra 50". What draw weight? I've a 67@28.
I love my sheepeater... 47-48 inch strung...
7 Lakes Archery 54" "Sawed Off"...

Is tenbrook still making these? I don't see them on their website.
You'd have to call and ask. Jess Stuart of siearrablancabows.com makes a sweet little 48" takedown and he has a solid reputation. He's a member here.
Border Ghillie Dhu.
Crooked Stic makes a super sweet 50" takedown curve!
