I'll be back in a bit with more pics of the death traps I have set up for you....and to show what you can do with reed fencing from Home Depot and a little string....

:clapper:
OK...this 1t blind is all set and ready...the 3rd photo is before I finished, the reed fencing really works nice for a ground blind as it readily accepts more cover....you'll see more on the 3rd blind I set. Also, a little string will go a long way also accepting more cover....
This fencing will allow us to not only hide you as the hunter...but the 4 wheeler as well.
Oh yeah....the can of spray paint was suppose to be brown....but it came out red...I don't think the hogs will give a hoot regardless...

Next up....Mother Nature and some string....
Awesome brother....your energy, effort, and generosity is second to none!
:notworthy: :campfire:
BTW... can't believe how different everything looks...but there's no mistaking "The Racetrack"
OK now...remember we gotta hid a hunter AND a 4 wheeler...in the first 2 pics you're gonna say, "that's way to open too hide all that'......but, that is what you are seeing, what you are not seeing is what's behind the camera, and from the hogs perspective...
We are using a blow down tree that just happen to fall in a perfect place...and we are going to use the tree and a little string to make the hunter disappear....
Here's the string trick....hanging river cane and palmettos to form a back drop for the hunters head and upper body break up...
OK...see the sunny spot right in front of the log...the 4 wheeler will be sitting right there....looks all too open huh?
Here's standing on the sunny spot....
Here's the hog perspective....And here's how we are going to make man and machine invisible....

A little ingenuity goes a long way.
Next up....some hog sign pics...and the blind the 3 little pigs was at. (Curt, your little ground blind was 15 yards from it)
All this within 100 to 150 yards from the last blind I posted about....

Death traps for certain!!!
Awwww Crap...I thought I was on The Bacon Strip forum....Oh well....maybe someone can use the blind info....

Caleb...you must be kidding....there are lots of hogs in the mountains in GA. I know lots of folks that kill them in N GA....including me.
I don't have time to dig up all the pics, but I've been in on at least 6 mt killings between myself and friends.
MAN O MAN!
I'm excited to watch this one unfold!
...gotta stop watchin and start doin though..lol
I love it. Nothing beats hunting from the ground!
I named this one Taj Mahut....this one in the 1st pic with the 3 little pigs...
No telling what will happen here as this one is in their bedroom. The plan is to walk them right down the road, but they could come from anywhere here....sign all around including a freshly used wallow about 40 yards away.
From inside.....the shooting lanes....

South approach...
North approach
(http://www.tradgang.com/upload/terry/bowmarksblind3d.jpg)
Since this blind needs serious cover from behind due to hog travel behind the blind, I used string and lots of palmettos and river cane to form a back drapery....
10 yards...
15 yards...

20 yards...

Nah...just making forts in the woods like when I was a kid.
Here's what's next door to Taj......

I like it Terry! Giving me some good ideas. Do you build your blinds so that you can see you game coming while your sitting and then stand to shoot or do you shoot sitting down?
Those are some sweet setups Terry! I look forward to seeing the success. Stringing the Palmettos along the blind, makes it virtually invisible, nice depth
Blano....I don't build many blinds....I have and will in the future. And like to shoot how ever I'm set up.....sitting and shooting is always best if you are going to sit for a long spell.
We gotta hid a guy and a 4 wheeler in this case, hence the 'construction' on these. A simple clump of palmettos can hid a guy sitting behind them for hogs.....and standing behind a single maple sapling is good enough to stand behind if you are going to go for just a couple of hours.
My goodness I just heared about this post and read all that Terry is doing for me and am in awe.
Had to call Terry to do some planning and talking and still can not beleave what a GRACIOUS GENTELMAN "Terry Green " is !!!!
I just hope that I can hold up my end of this super hunt.

Yeah mark, You'll do just fine bud....just relax and enjoy every second of the experience at The Bacon Strip...the place, the people, and the hunting!!!
Mark....we are just going hunting Sir....that's what we do.
OK....I got a Montana Hog decoy AND some hog attractant by Smokey, both thrown in for the hunt....so many thanks to them!!!

Not a lot of snakes when you have a lot of hogs....they get eaten up pretty fast... I've only seen one copperhead there.
looks like fun. I'm sure you'll be eating well with all that prep and just a bit of luck. May the wind always be in your face!
Looks like a pork party about to happen!!!
Nice!!
:bigsmyl:
Nice thread and pics - should work good. Getting some great ideas - the landscape looks a lot like S. Central La. where I hunt.
Sponsers now!!!!! You realy know how to make a guy nervous. :help:
:readit:
Nice job, the traps are set.
Good Luck buddy !!! Sure your going to have some great stories to share when you get back.
Thanks Again Terry !!! :notworthy:
Bill
Aw heck...no need to get nervous, or worry about holding up some part of the deal....

:campfire:

Man, all that bottomland looked like my old place down on the Suwannee River in N.FL! Miss me some palmettos now...I could set up a natural blind in 60 seconds flat!
Nice looking setup sir.....

I knew I liked pork for a reason. I'm with Roger, I'm not a fan of snakes. I know a lot of guys think skins are pretty on bows, but that's the last thing I want my bow to look like! :readit:
Anyway, the setup looks first rate. Enjoy the hunt boys and looking forward to the stories.
I've grown up in the woods....playing n hunting.....all my life....the only person i know that has been bitten was bit a little over a quarter mile from the courthouse in down town Calhoun GA while playing basketball.
Luck to ya Mark. Terry Outstanding!! TD.
Mark, let me tell ya man. I hate snakes!!!!!!! I've been to the strip a few times in Sept and Jan. Only saw one little guy. He was high tailing it away from me. Dd I say I hate snakes!
Great place to hunt with some great hosts. Don't you sweat the killing part. I myself have yet to get get a hog down there but have some awesome memories of the hunts. The kill will be a bonus! Enjoy!
This is definitely worth a look. :campfire:
Miss Mark.
I have to say, this is informative as far as blinds go, but it really sad for me as Mark had an anxiety attack and didn't make the hunt, and he passed away soon after. I really wish this hunt had of taken place. He would have had a ball.
So sorry to hear about another Brother of the Bow gone. Thank you Terry for this choice in blind, reed fencing, I think I'm going to try it this year, its simple and easily setup.
I really wish this hunt would have happened as well. Mark was a good friend. Really miss shooting with him a few times a week.
I miss seeing Mark at ETAR and chatting with him.
Yeah, I miss him too for sure.
All the upside down palmettos are hanging on my wool, as stated in the other thread hemp twine might be better that wally world wool yarn. Either way both will biodegrade.
You have to look for a sagging horizontal line also. Like the other thread, I mostly up it for a back drop, but as you can see I uses a hanging line on the Taj Ma Hut so that when the limbs settled the two weeks before he got there, the reed fencing would still be covered.
It was really cool designing these 'drive in' blinds.
:campfire:
So sorry Roger, I missed this from 2012....
