what is the best thing to shoot broadheads in. i've got a bag target now so i've got to get something else. thought about the yellowjacket target for bh's but i've heard that they are tough to pull out, will hay bails stop bh's?
There was a thread a little while back on building a sandpit broadhead target. If you've got the space this would really be ideal. Cheers, Matt
Give this a go:

I bought a layered foam target at Wal-Mart for $17 that has a side for broadheads that works great.
I took a couple of old closed cell backpacking mats 24" x 72" . Made two cuts 8" apart. Rolled them as tight as I could get them with some contact cement here and there until 36'dia. Then cut the so I could glue it on and trimed it for a flat face. Works as good as an American Whtietail target. Not to hard to pull arrows from. All I have in it is the price of the glue.
3 years ago I bought a Yellow Jacket on sale, 29.99$ I think. Shot the hell outta that thing for the first two years with my wheel bow, now shooting it with my longbow. It doesn't look good anymore, but still stops them. It does pull a little hard and will sliver as it gets older, but it's a good target for broadheads IMO.

It's real hard to pull broadheads out of hay bales....
They do stop a broadhead. Butt as said above hard to pull.
Yellow jackets work great........pulling the BH out is tough-go slow at first. We shoot only woodies and have never lost a broadhead--yet! LOL!
Yellowjacket works great for me too. You won't shoot field points in it though. On second thought....you can shoot them into it just fine, but you won't like pulling them out.
Slick up your arrows and the pulling will go easier.
Me and a friend just bought a Blob target. Best broadhead target I have ever seen. Have heard of guys shooting these things for 6 or 7 years with nothing but broadheads. So far we probably have around 250 shots in an area the size of a paper plate with Interceptors and Tree Sharks. No appreciable wear.
I have heard of guys that got appliance boxes and went to insulating contractors that filled the box with the expanding foam. After it dries just sand the top smooth and paint/draw what ever target you like on the side. Thought of doing it myself.
I also heard of getting a cardboard box and after cutting a round opening the in the side then fill it with rags, sheets, old clothes with anything metal cut-off up past the top of the opening and when the broadheads hit these loose clothes they spin up in them and stops them that way,, you have to unspin the arrow and then push it up where the point is due to some penetration through the fabrics..
I never tried this myself,, Ted
I have a YellowJacket and it works good I just saw a video of the American Whitetail King series target, the have them at BassPro for $50 looks good it has thick layers of foam insted of the thin foam sheets that sliver easy. I think it will be my next target.
The best thing to shoot broadheads into ? Whitetails

I didn't know what a Blob target was so did a web search and found some pictures. I had one of those things -- never knew it was called a Blob.
I used it for arrows and knives. It didn't last as long for me as others report -- probably because of the chunks the knives take out.
I'd like to find another one...
