Title: Binos help
Post by: mmgrode on August 01, 2007, 11:49:00 PM
Hey gang,
well, another binocular brand has been brought into the mix of possibles for purchasing this fall... Vortex optics. Anyone have any experience with these?  It looks as though they make a good optic for the price along with an unconditional warranty.  It is now down to either a 10X42 vortex or a 10X42 nikon monarch.  Thanks for the help!  Cheers, Matt

I have looked thru the nikons, was not impressed.
I have the Zeiss conquest, the image qality is fantastic and even though they are Zeiss' economy models; they are heads above the Japanese offering that I have seen ( although my buddy has the Pentax 8x42's and they are pretty nice)

I just bought a pair of Nikon Monarch 8x36 for my wife . I am very impressed with them ! For the money , they compare very well with my Swarovski 8x30's . ........... you get MORE than your money's worth.

A guy at our local club showed up for indoor 3D league one night with a pair of Bushnell Natureview 10x42 roof prisms. Amazing binoculars! When it got to dusk I took them outside and compared them to a $300 set of Wind River roof prisms (made by Leupold). The Bushnells absolutely blew them away...brighter with better clarity.

They're marketed toward bird watchers, which is why you probably won't see them in any hunting catalogs, but for $140 you definately can't go wrong.
