by me! my first attempt at a 'stacked handle ' knife.basicly the knife has a thin tang, pieces of materials are cut a slit cut in the middle then slipped over the tang, stuck to eachother with a contact adhesive, here ive used bodgers billy the dexter bull, brass and ebony! the blade is again fron the same saw blade as the first one.once the materials are stacked the end of the tang is gently hammered ,as it flattens out it compacts the layers and secures it all in place.then the handle is shaped ,sanded polished and oiled.

thanks ! i was inspired by the how to thread on making knives from old circular saw blades!
here ive used bodgers billy the dexter bull
Say what ??
Very good looking. I would like to hear more about tapping out the end of the tang. Did it go the same direction as the slit? I guess the pommel is not attached to the tang?
what did you use to cut the slit?

right here we go!.....bodger is my mate ,he had a bull of the dexter breed called billy,it was slaughtered and went in the freezer the bones came to me via his dogs who chewed all the meat and marrow off it!
i tapped out the end of the tang painstakingly with a ball payne hammer, just splayed it out all over then sanded flatish and then pollished, the pommel is attached to the tang and is fitted before the tang end is flattened.
to cut the slit i used a fine drill bit and drilled holes inline then wiggled the drill bit to 'join'the holes into a slit.
hope this helps! :archer:
If you don't get a chance to hunt this year you could send it to me so I could blood it for you :bigsmyl: Of course I'd send it back as soon as the deed was done!
yeh right! mmmm let me think.....i send my knife 4000 miles to the otherside of the world....nah ille pass!!!!
Got it. Well not exactly on how the tang get flatened out and tightens up the stack but the pomel is fit before you do the flatening but I will figure as I go. I know what you mean about bones all over the front yard. My hounds have drug up 5 yrs worth of Deer bones in the last month.I am going to do this style knife next exept with bacote. Thanks
Geno
Man fish, I thought it was only 3800 miles :biglaugh: Great looking knife, hope you bloody it well on something other than a beef steak :biglaugh:

the layers are glued together with epoxy glue then the end of the tang is just gammered gently till its done,i put the knife blade in a vice wrapped in tape to prevent scratching.
owlbait, ime off on a bowhunt soon!
Good for you fish,I can't hunt until Sept. 15th(small game) and then Oct.1 for whitetail. Wasn't sure how much opportunity you had to hunt over there. Send me a pic of your knife in action if you have any luck on your hunt.
