Hello all,
I was wondering if any carbon shooters could help me figure out an arrow combo for a 43@28 Whip longbow. I draw 26.5ish so the real draw weight is about 38-40 pounds. I would like to keep the arrow around 28" and the point weight around 125-145 as I haven't had much luck with adding tons of weight to the front of the shafts (I'll add mass via weight tubes and rope). I noticed 3Rivers has some Epic 600, any thoughts if these would fit the bill?

I bought some Epic .600's about 2 weeks ago from 3Rivers for my 45lb longbow, I've got them cut to 29.5 with 145grs upfront they are the best shooting arrows I have.
I'll second the Epic 600's. Work better than any other carbon out of my 39 lb recurve. 3Rivers sells them.

You might want to try Carbon Express Thunderstorm SE shafts. They come cut at 29" and are designed for lighter poundage bows.
I have a question to those of you using the Epic 600 that 3 Rivers sells..
At my 29.75" arrow length with a 100 grain head they will weigh in at about 370 grains....
I will be shooting them out of a bow that is 37#@28" and actual draw is 29" giving me about 41#...
I am stuck with these limbs because my 45# limbs delaminated and my RER replacements won't be ready until May.
I know I can punch a whitetail with this weight as long as I take care with my shot placement and distance.
What do you think of this setup...
I usually shoot woods, but the only woods I have for shoot out of that bow are quite a bit heavier (455 gr). I also figure these arrows would be real nice to shoot my indoor league with...

IMHO the 600 cut to 28in.with your draw, will be a little stiff.If you get some I would start testing full length and only cut about 1/4 at a time if they show weak.They may not be weak at all.Carbon arrows tune easier with length change than tip weight.
About your only other option in a quality all carbon is to go to an Easton Redline or Beman
ICS Energy with a lighter spine.

I agree with R-H I would say a 29.5" shaft with 145 may be good. That is what I will be shooting them from a 38# R/D bow cut to 29.5"s and 145 up front at least. I may go to 175 up front. Shawn
My set-up with the 600's is 28" with 125 grain heads. Bareshafts group well with that set-up out of my 40 lb recurve.
Your mileage may vary of course, depending on how much or little center shot you have on your longbow, but given that you're going with a longer arrow I'd suggest starting with 125 grains - given what worked for me.
Got a buddy who shoots full length GT Entrada 600's from his 33# Turkey Creek at about 25" draw. Perfect arrow flight from his bow and they shoot perfect from my 41#@28" bow at 29" draw. My bow is more centershot though.

Does your friend cut them to 28in or leave them full length?
i set up dad some Easton Epics at 28" or 28 1/2" dont remember. but i like the 400s better overall. better yet i like the O/S Carbon Excels the best. notice that 3 Rivers is the only place that has the Epic 600's. not even mentioned anywhere else...

He's shooting them full length (30-3/8" BOP).
