so far i am considering-
- Ponghorn 3pc.
- Kota prarie nomad
who else makes a good one??
Cari-Bow Silver Fox (made by Abe Penner)
A&H Archery (ACS three piece takedown longbows)
I 2nd the silverfox. Mine should be done in 6 weeks. I can't wait!!
I am a morrison fan.the shawnee riser accomidates long bow or recurve limbs, just pick your poison.
A&H ACS CX for me too! Although a bow from Abe would be nice as would a Morrison!
Cari-Bow Silver Fox. Outstanding bow in every aspect.

Doug from Turkey Creek is gonna start or has started making a 3 piece longbow, right now that would be my choice! Shawn
the acs is definitely out of my price range, i am tying to stay around $600
In that case the Pronghorn is a nice bow. I owned a one piece Herb made and it was a shooter! I am sure his 3-piece ones are just as nice. Another bow you might check out is by Sapphire Archery. I have heard some really great things about his double carbon, 3 piece longbows and they are in your price range. Very nice looking bows in my opinion and suppose to be great performers!
Check out a Yellowstone by Rich Wormington
Pronghorn, great bow for the money.....
I have to say the silver fox as well may be a little pricey but worth every penny Delin
I just bought a Bob Lee TD Hunter I love the way it shoots, the hunter model is $515.00
I have an 58" Ancient Spirits Sequoia that I really like...would be worth looking at if nothing else.
I'd throw another vote for a Pronghorn. I've got 2 of Herb's bows a 1 piece & 3 piece, both longbows. Excellent value, fast & hard hitting. Very light in the hand & a great limb design.
Also, there's plenty to be had second hand for around the $350-500 mark.
If you would like to stay around $500-$600 I would look at a Zipper(not much of a web site, but great bows) or Bob Lee(can't go wrong there).
The truth is(I think A&H is the exception due to different limb design)that many of the higher priced bows are not that much differentfrom the lower priced performance wise. The difference in most of the higher price vs. lower price is exotic woods and overall finished craftmanship. I would think(again just my opinion) that the performance of most these bows will be in the same neighborhood.
Shoot as many bows as you can and go with the most quiet and comfortable for you before buying. Those two characteristics will help out a lot at the moment of truth.
The bowyers that advertise on tradgang are all excellent people and craftsmen. I am certain that you will be in good hands with any of them.
Just my two cents,
Charlie
Check the classifieds. I saw a Pronghorn and a Morrison Dakota on page1 in you price range.
I have a Morrison and it may be the best bow I've owned.
pronghorn have 3 and 1 peice models. just a nice stable hunting rig that won't let you down
Crow Creek Black Feather, sweeeeeeet shooting bow. I've owned lots of bows and Mr. Patton's craftsmanship doesn't take a back seat to anyone of whom I have personal knowledge.

crooked stic nuff said ........ mike builds one heck of a bow and is a great guy to deal with.

A new Zipper is closer to $700, Bob Lees bows will get ya there and are very nice and pretty good performers. There are many nice used bows out there that are like new and ya cabn pick up for 1/2 of new price. Shawn
I love my Kota Prairie Nomad.
Just curious. Why a three piece and not a two piece?
see below
I would go for the Bob Lee. Just as nice in craftsmanship as the high $$$ makers and you can up the options as well. Not to mention, the customer svc is top notch.

My ACS is number one right now. And my Fedora Xtreme is current number two-you could get a Fedora 3 piece for 600 if you went with a fairly plain looking bow (none of them are plain looking anyway) LOL! If it were me I'd hit the ads.
There was a Horne 3 pcs. that took my breathe away the other day, bocote and hint of yellow pin lines, running thur her , it was the purtiest :) I have seen...and Hornes will slam a arrow!!! :)
Marco is right, Horne has some sweet shooters from $500 and up! Shawn
I would go with the Horne's Takedown Hunter Longbow 575.00 for a basic bow. Your choice of two basic woods for the riser maple cores and basic wood limb veneers. For the price you can't beat the craftmanship and shootability. You'll have a bow you'll be proud to show off at a reasonable price.
Should've said Horne's Combo Hunter Longbow.
Make your own, a Binghams Pronounced made a little shorter shoots well.
Ernie McKenzie of Sapphire Traditional Archery made me a great bow. You should check it out before you decide. Mine is the one in the upper left of the first page on the moose antler. He makes great bows.

I have no experience with any 3 piece longbow except the A&H ACS CX.. I have owned many of the fine 3 piece recurves over the last (gasp) 35 or so years and this CX leaves nothing to be desired by me.. It's a wonderful bow made by great folks.. Try one, you won't be sorry..

Anyone got a picture of the 3 piece from Turkey Creek?
