Title: Bowyers ? on limb glass separation
Post by: Seeking Trad Deer on July 26, 2007, 02:54:00 PM
I noticed on a take down limb I have there is a small white spot on the glass on the end/side of the limb.  When I run my finger along the side I can feel a tiny crease that is open where the glass meets the actionboo or whatever strips of wood are in the limb.  It is a tiny spot.  Is this a problem or at least something to worry about?  Should anything be done about it?  Advice is appreciated   :notworthy:  .

Small is??  Up to a pea size, fill it with superglue, fine sand, rub poly over it and watch it.  Before clear glass you had to just look for openings.  I wonder how many religiously look over the side of the limbs of their opaque limbed bows.

About pea sized...the bowyer said he would nock off $100 on the bow due to glass blemishes.  I just discovered the split and I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting or something that could be a liability on the bow down the road.

I've knocked the side of my limb on a tree shotting at a deer and had the same thing happen.  I just superglued it that was 2 yrs ago.

Missed the deer by 2' and it was only 5 ' from the stand

Personally my motto is when in doubt don't.I tend to nit pick and would worry to no end over it even if it wasn't an issue.
