Here's a neck knife I made for our TBG (Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia) banquet. Special thanks to the Ferret for the idea.

The blade is a Helle Ola-Kniven with some pretty basic file work along the spine. I also re-polished the blade (I always end up scratching them when I make the knife), so you can't see the Helle markings any more.

The handle is bone Corian, red fiberglass, white fiberglass, and red locust. I added a brass lanyard hole at the end of it and tied a litte square sinnet lanyard out of brown and red leather lacing.

I made the sheath out of some scrap oily leather. I did some wet forming, but the leather just had too much oil in it to hold much. It did ok though. I made the necklace by knitting some leather lace. It might be a bit bulky, but it looked pretty good IMO.

I really like how this one turned out, but I'm just not efficient at this stuff. I always end up finishing my knife up the day of the banquet (I've only made 3 knives and each went to our banquets). This year was no exception as we arrived about 45 minutes later than I had planned because I couldn't decide on how to tie the necklace to the sheath.
I want a neck knife. I think they are too cool. NICE KNIFE.

LOL..yea that's cutting it close!
Knife is VERY nice (which I could do that nice of work), and the sheath is COOL too! Bet some TBG member was very happy on his way home after the banquet.
Nice work  :notworthy: :clapper:
awsome little knife
cool
Way cool!!!!!!
LOOKS GREAT! <><
It felt even better than it looks, it was so smooth. I put a lot of tickets in the bag but it was won by Molly, Dan Spiers better half.
Thanx from all at TBG
That's a sweet looking knife. I love the shape and size
Nice knife, now go make one for yourself!
Dan
Thanks for the kudos...it means a lot coming from you guys.
The knife turned out a little small, but I put the lanyard on it with the intent that you could put your pinky finger in it and maybe that would help with blade control. It did feel pretty good as Tim said. Super glue makes a nice finish. Too bad I found that out after trying a couple of other ones, but now I know.
Dan, you're right...I should actually make myself one. I have one of the bigger blades with the guthook set aside for my own, but I can't decide on the handle materials.
Look at the olive wood in the Bit of a kit thread...it's awesome.
Olive wood is definitely some pretty stuff. I also have some tulip wood laying around. Some of the best looking wood I've seen on a knife was black oak burl, followed by buckeye burl. Heck, any of the burls are just awesome.
