What is your arrow setup, and why did you choose it? Do you practice with the same arrow setup you hunt with?
I use Easton 2117 (aluminum) arrows with woodman broadheads or bear razorheads. I like aluminum for its accuracy, strenth, and durability. I don't usualy use the same practice arrows to hunt with unless I have to.
I shoot carbon cause I miss so d*#& much, at least they don't bend!!
Carbons as they hold up better than any other arrow materail and yes, I hunt with the same arrows I practice with as I do not have to worry if they are bent or whatever. Shawn
I started shooting wood arrows in the 1960's
I started shooting aluminium arrows in the 1970's
I got back into "traditional" bowhunting in 1999 (after giving up bowhunting for about 15 years)shooting wood arrows again.
Last year my Good Friend and neighbor "Lew" passed away and I was given his old archery gear, including 2 dozen Easton "Autumn Orange" 2016's.These were stripped, crown dipped, crested, and re-fletched by my Good Friend, fellow TradGanger, and Sponser,Joe Skipp. They were my hunting arrows last year, and I keep them for my "Hunting Arrows".
I have never shot carbons. I once saw a picture of a carbon arrow that had "splintered" and went through a guys hand. I have honestly never seen or heard of this again, but I just can't get that picture out of my head.
I like wood arrows. They are "natural". They are also "biodegradable". If I loose one,I just feel that it went back where it came from, and that makes me feel good.
I use the 2016's because they belonged to my friend. Now.....His Spirit hunts with me.

I 2nd what Shawn said!

I shoot Wood now,but I've shot aluminum and carbons,All great arrows,Just shootin wood cause I like them,JB,
Woodies for the past five or six years. Aluminums for 35 or so years before that. Still have some that are quite old and still perform like the day they were new.
Don't own a carbon and never will.
One of my bows likes carbons, the rest I shoot woodies because I am a glutton for punishment and enjoy making arrows quite often.
I use 2315 and 2317 aluminum with 270 grain grizzly broadheads. I really like heavy arrows and it seems that carbon arrows are not made from the factory to be used by heavy arrow type shooters. The carbons seem to be high maintenance when you try to get the right weight compared to trusty big heavy aluminum arrows. I really do like good looking wood arrows but 85-90 spine arrows aren't easy to find. With that said I do like the people who shoot carbon arrows because I like to get a good buy on **** when they sale their 2317's. I shoot the same arrows when practicing and shooting 3-D.
Richie
woodies arround here, and aluminum 1920 Gamegetters when I travel.
woodies for the last several years. no complaints. i hunt with the same arrows I practice with - just sharpen the magnus 125's and head for the timber.
I third what Shawn said. Can't beat carbons for durability.
Wood, primarily POC, for the past 40 years. Guess I'll stick with it.
Woodies, I like the split hex shafts. Hunt with the same type arrows they are just fancier my practice arrows are pretty plain. Frank
Some of each depending on what works best with each bow.
I like wood arrows, primarily POC, but plan on trying some Hildebrand spruce before too long.
I shoot them because I like them--they are quiet, forgiving, and I don't break many. Most of my shots that break a wood arrow would ruin an aluminum or carbon. I love the way they look, and when I have the time I love to make them. I don't have to worry about whether or not a particular tournament will allow me to shoot them in my class. Howard Hill, Ben Pearson, Fred Bear, etc. proved time and again they can be shot as accurately as any. They do take a bit more work, but so does shooting a traditional bow--I didn't get into this sport looking for shortcuts.
I hunt, practice, and shoot 3-D with the same arrows--minus broadheads for tournaments and most practice shots. I do have my heaviest shafts set aside for hunting, but they are the same wood as the rest.
FWIW, I have shot carbon and aluminum in the past, and it wouldn't kill me to have to go back to either one in the future--but I think wood will always be my favorite.

What broadhead do y'all shoot on these arrows? What weight?
I just don't like the smell of freshly broken aluminum or carbon arrows. When a woody dies it gives you one last little gift. ;)

I just love them woodies! Fun to make...shoot great..you can "dial in" to just about any weight you want...They just seem to go with wooden bows. If you lose or bust one, you don't bust the bank.
I prefer either carbon or wood. I shoot carbon 99% of the time. For strength, recovery, and lack of bending.
I enjoy good wood arrows but haven't got the time to craft nice ones for myself. And with the prices on good, handmade arrows I can get carbons.
I don't really care for aluminums. I like the straightness they offer but I can't keep them straight to save my life. Last dozen I bought I had 5 bent arrows in less than a week. And, its not from missing targets. Just don't seem to be very durable for all around shooting.
